What is a one-way video interview?

  • A one-way video interview is a tool that allows candidates to record responses to pre-set interview questions, which can be reviewed by hiring teams at a later time. Unlike traditional interviews, it doesn't require both parties to be present at the same time.

Do I need any special software or equipment?

  • All you need is a device with a camera and microphone, such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone, and a stable internet connection. Wednesday works on all browsers, but for the best experience, we recommend Chrome.

How do I know my interview has been submitted?

  • Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation page letting you know your videos have been submitted.

Who can see my interview responses?

  • Your video responses will be reviewed by designated employees at the company you are applying for. This usually includes members of the hiring team, which may include the recruiter, hiring manager, and relevant team members.

Is there a time limit to my response?

  • It is up to the company you are interviewing with if there a time limit to the response. If yes, it will indicate the timer in the left-hand corner of the response screen. If there is no timer present, there is no response limit.

When can I expect to hear back about the role?

  • Every company has a different timeline and communication plan. Any questions about communication or timeline should be directed to your contact at the company you're applying to.

What are the recording requirements?

  • You can record on either your Desktop or Mobile device. Make sure to have a steady internet connection throughout your entire interview recording.

Do I need to make an account?

  • No account is needed to submit your responses.

I am having technical issues - who should I contact?

  • If you encounter any technical problems, please email [email protected] for assistance; be sure to include the device and browser you are using.

Can I start my interview and come back at a later time?

  • We recommend you complete all your interview questions in one sitting. If you leave the recording tab you will lose your responses. If you must step away, leave the tab open, do not close or reload.

What should I wear for the video interview?

  • Dress as you would for an in-person interview with the company. It's always a good idea to opt for professional attire unless otherwise specified.

Can I access Wednesday on a mobile device?

  • Yes, Wednesday is mobile-friendly, allowing you to record and submit your responses via your smartphone or tablet.

Is my data secure?

  • The data security of our users is of utmost importance to us. We prioritize the privacy and security of all users. All video responses are transmitted over https, stored in secure, encrypted databases, and only authorized personnel have access to them.

How can I best prepare for this video interview?

  • Treat this opportunity as you would any other interview. Research the company, understand the role you're applying for, and think through potential questions you might be asked. Ensure you're in a quiet location with good lighting when recording.

Can I view my videos after submitting?

  • Once your videos have been submitted you will no longer have access to view your responses.

Do I have to use my camera?

  • You can record audio-only answers but we recommend following the recommendation of the company you are applying to.

What if I can't get my microphone or camera to work?
